NUS Business Module Review: DBA3712 / DSC3224 Dynamic Pricing and Revenue Management

Homework: 20%
Quizzes: 20%
Final Group Project: 25%
Interim Projects: 25%
Participation: 10%

Content heavy module. Very excel, math and macro based. So if you are not that good in these aspects, find teammates who can carry you! 3 projects in total, the load of the project gets heavier one after another, especially the last one which requires video, report, powerpoint, excel program and a write up of how the program works. There are like 2-3 assignment homework which are pretty manageable.

Try to understand what the prof wants exactly to do well for the homework.

There are weekly quizzes which are really easy, just study and practice and you will get full marks for them.

Participation is based on impression so speak up in class!

NUS Business Module Review: ACC2002 Managerial Accounting

Class Part: 10%
Group Presentation: 15%
4 x Quizzes: 20%
Finals: 55%

Math based mod but less math based than ACC1002. More of level 2000 common sense. Essentially the module is teaching one how to allocate cost. Understanding where and how the cost of a cost object came from. Non-existent class part, no one talks so just participate like 3-4 times the entire semester will be sufficient. Group presentation is based on tutorial questions, pls get everything correct and get full credits for it.

Quizzes are the tricky part. Me being lazy student, i hate doing extra revision unless its for finals. I did my own notes and tutorial to prep for the quizzes. But the quizzes are really different from what is taught in sectionals. I got juiced for the first 2 quizzes and started shitting myself. Then i found out the questions from the quizzes were those from the test banks which can be bought from carousell. Each topic has like 120 questions (which is actually quite shag since each quiz covers like 2-3 topics so thats around 300 quetsions in prep for the quiz). But with the test bank, i pretty much crushed the other 2 quizzes.

Heavy weighage finals (55%). I had like 1 week plus to study for it so way way way more than enough time. I think 2-3 full day revision will be sufficient already. Go fast for the finals. Questions were not hard. Just a tedious and long paper. Many people didn’t complete the paper aka throwing away marks. Like i mentioned earlier, this mod is easier than ACC1002 so one definitely has to get their answers right since bell curve is gonna be steep.

NUS Business Module Review: DOS3703 / DSC3203 Service Operations Management

Individual Assignment: 10%
Group Unusual Business Presentation: 10%
Group Guesstimation Assignment: 10%
Group Service Project Report & Presentation: 20%
Finals: 50%

Best mod this sem. Hands down. Everything taught is so applicable to real life. Engineering prof teaching a biz mod. No fluff whatsoever. 100% math and excel based but not hard at all. Definitely easier than dsc1007 and dsc2008. Somewhat similar to dsc2006.

All the individual and group assignment projects are not going to differentiate the curve much.

Everything boils down to the finals. Questions are not hard, just long and tedious. Many people did not complete the paper aka throwing marks away. Questions are not hard so its a must to get everything correct. Prof provided snacks after the finals. Hopefully can take other mods under him next time.

NUS Business Module Review: DOS3702 / DSC3202 Purchasing And Materials Management

Individual Assignment: 20%
Group Assignment: 20%
Mid Term: 30%
Group Project: 30%

Fluff mod, ‘blackhole of fluff’. I have been warned. Combination of both theory and formulas, but i hardly learnt anything from this mod, im sorry prof, but i dont think im the only one who thinks like that.

Get good team mates. I managed to get really good team mates such that even when i was hospitalised and immobile, things were still rolling. Thanks guys.

Midterms is important: i think its the determining factor for the final grade since the other components’ mark differentiation is minimal.

Group project was actually quite fun, it was based on budgeting and forecasting using some paid platform which was pretty interactive.

Individual assignment must aim for full marks, not hard at all.

NUS Business Module Review: BSN3703/MNO2009 Entrepreneurial Strategy

Individual Assignment: 42.5%
Project, Presentation & Poster: 42.5%
Class Part: 15%

This mod is not fluff. It is actually a useful mod. Everything is in theory but most of them are really applicable to real life. Mod is very assignment and project based. Super heavy weightage. Pls put in effort for the individual assignment because the 42.5% doesnt break down to smaller components. Its 1 x 42.5%. I picked a question that required interviewing entrepreneurs so i thought it stood out more.

Group project requires the group to come up with a new product that is viable for the market it intends to compete it. Quite fluff but it turned out to be quite fun. My initial thoughts for our product was actually quite cui but somehow our team was one of the first to get $$ from investors during the poster session. Important to pick good team mates: i had pretty decent one.

NUS Business Module Review: MNO2705 / MNO2007 Leadership and Decision Making under Uncertainty

Class Part: 30%
Leadership Moment Project: 20%
Group Project & Presentation: 20%
Finals: 30%

Super fluff mod. One of the fluffiest mod in nus biz. Like the psi in the sectionals room is like 400 every single time i go for class. Class part is split into 2: class contribution in the actual class and 3x 1 page report submitted throughout the semester. Airtime to speak in class is precious af. Everyone is competitive and wants to talk. So raise 2 hands and catch the prof’s attention.

Leadership moment project: basically come up with a ‘real life’ story and try to explain some leadership value based on the story. Just spam as much leadership theory as possible (even those not taught in class, just google and fluff).

Group project: every group will have 4 weeks to prep for it. Everything boils down to the presentation so pls make good slides and dress well for it.

Finals is the only time one will have to study for this mod so like just spend 3 days to prep and memorise everything and dump into 2 essay questions.

NUS Business Module Review: DOS3701 / DSC3201 Supply Chain Management

Group Project & Research Poster: 30%
Final Exam: 40%
Individual Homework: 20%
Class Participation: 10%

Taught by 2 different profs. The first part of the module is quite mathy and om based but not too hard. The second part of the module is quite fluffy om stuff.

The project was more of the fluffy om stuff, submission was a report and a poster which will be submitted for the dsc department poster competition as well.

The final exams consist of both the mathy and fluffy om stuff but it isn’t too hard.

Individual homework is quite easy both profs will have their own individual homework.

Class participation is probably based on impression. Study hard for the finals and you will definitely do well!

NUS Module Review: GEK1508 Einstein’s Universe & Quantum Weirdness

Group Project: 30%
Mid Terms: 20%
Finals: 30%
Star Gazing: 5%
Tutorial Assignment: 5%
Forum Participation: 10%

You need h2 physics to do well in this mod. Which is why i suffered so badly because i only took h1 physics. If you take h2 physics, you will like understand 80% of the content of this mod.

Group project is like writing a story or reviewing a book. Our group picked writing a story and it was really fun.

Mid terms and finals are actually not hard but because i don’t understand the content, it turned out to not be easy.

Star gazing is quite interesting. Just turn up at the nus open field on specific nights and fill up the star gazing sheet and get full score.

Tutorial assignments are easy, the prof will always be willing to share answers for the assignments.

Forums just post as often as possible and hit 10 posts and you will get full score.

NUS Business Module Review: BSP2701 / BSP2001 Global Economy

Tutorial Assignments and Presentation: 25%
Mid Terms: 25%
Finals: 50%

Hard mod. I found this way harder than bsp1005. Maybe because the prof didn’t teach it well and the content is harder to understand.

Basically the assignments are the tutorial homework, it is a group thing so just make sure your group discuss and make sure everything is correct before submitting.

Midterms is 25 questions so 1 question is 1% of the final grade, not too hard but easy to make careless, make sure you study for it.

Finals is quite hard, 50 questions for 50%. By the end of the sem, a lot of people will be super lost in this module and just leave it to fate during the finals. I was expecting a really bad grade because i was one of these people.

NUS Business Module Review: DAO2702 / DSC2008 Programming for Business Analytics

2 x Tutorial Assignments: 20%
Group Project (Report and Presentation): 20%
Class Participation: 20%
Finals: 40%

This mod is very cheem. Even for someone who spec in DSC, i found this mod hard to understand. Almost everyone taking this mod will find this really hard to understand. Luckily for them, this mod can SU, so the bell curve is really not steep at all.

The assignments are quite general in nature so you can extend it in any way you want to. Ask around and discuss with your peers, should be able to score quite well.

Group project is based on what is taught in the module. If your team mates plan to su and don’t turn up for lecture, you prepare to tank for them.

Just ask questions during each tutorial and you will get the class part and sign your attendance!

Finals is open book but as long as you study, you won’t really need to refer to the notes and lecture notes. Questions can be quite tricky and will sieve out those who study and those who don’t
