Surfshark Review (2021): Is Surfshark Worth It?

Like most top VPN service providers in the industry today, Surfshark offers consumers a leg up in privacy and security. This is accomplished through the usual dedicated service – a secure, encrypted tunnel that allows users to hide their traffic from prying eyes.

Surfshark currently offers several what it calls “multi-hop” connections. This means that users connecting to the Surfshark network have the option of routing through two VPN servers consecutively. This increases the anonymity factor for greater ease of mind.

Aside from that, the basic network covers over 61 countries around the world with a network of over 1,000 servers. That’s quite good for an up-and-coming service provider.

As with most good service providers, Surfshark has made their service available for several platforms so that you can use it with almost any device in existence. Their basic application covers mainstream platforms like Windows and iOS.

Alternatively, you can also install it on your gaming devices or smart devices like smart TVs.

Personally, I’ve been using Surfshark for around a year now and I’ve mostly been quite happy with their speeds. I’m connected to their US servers most of the time since I’m a Netflix fan and that’s where the best stuff is.

Still, their overall performance is good and in fact, well up to par with most of the top service providers in the business.

As with always, I tested Surfshark’s speed with several key locations around the world. To keep this in context, my physical location is in Malaysia and as such, PINGs (latency) will be higher for me depending on my physical distance to the VPN server. This is a fact regardless of VPN service provider.

Scribd Review (2021): Is Scribd Worth It?

Scribd is an audiobook and ebook subscription service that is rapidly gaining popularity. However, to those new to the world of audiobooks, Scribd may be unfamiliar.

In my Scribd review, I will outline what is available on the app, whether it offers good value for money and a comparison against other similar digital reading subscriptions.

Now let me give you a bit of background as to how I discovered Scribd.

I had always been a fervent believer that physical books were superior to ebooks and I hadn’t been able to get into audiobooks since I was a child. In my mind, nothing could beat the feeling of holding a really great book in your hands and flipping each physical page to the end.

Scribd App Reading Experience
The Scribd app reading experience is customisable so you can change the font, the alignment of the text, the line spacing, the scroll direction, the font size, the background colour, the brightness and more. Every edit you could possibly want to make, you can make.

You can add highlight your favourite quotes and add notes to your books, which all appear under the “notebook” tab so you can easily scroll through them later. You can even turn your highlighted quote into a shareable square image with Scribd’s branding on it.

It’s easy to move between chapters, to skip backwards and forwards and you can also adjust the reading speed of audio content.

My favourite feature, which apps like Audible lack, is Scribd tells you what percentage of the book you have completed as well as how much time there is left or how many pages there are. Whilst Audible will tell you the latter, it does not tell you the former, which I find very useful and motivating.

Skillshare Review (2021): Is Skillshare Worth It?

What is Skillshare good for?
Skillshare divided their classes into 4 categories: Creative, Technology, Business, and Lifestyle. As of March 2021, Skillshare has over 27,000 classes. When I first joined the platform, there were 21,000 classes. But don’t let those numbers fool you. Although I think that Skillshare grants you unlimited opportunities and that there are a lot of high-quality classes with superstar teachers and great content out there, I also stumbled upon some courses that were poor in quality. Keep in mind, that almost anyone can become a teacher on Skillshare. So even though the bad quality classes are often being removed from the platform, once in a while you may come across one. That is why I advise you to always read reviews from other students prior to taking any class.

But let’s be honest here, you probably won’t need all 27,000 classes. I try to devote 1 hour each day to Skillshare because I also have a business to run and a family to spend time with. But trust me, even 1 hour a day makes a great difference. I can’t stress enough how much those new skills that I learned improved both my business and my personal life.

Is Skillshare Worth It?
Skillshare is a good, legit company. It offers 20,000 classes for $15/m or $99/y and a free trial. These are high-quality, well-structured classes. Cool features like workshops and live sessions help students engage more in learning. There are very few cons, and without a doubt, Skillshare is worth it.

As you can probably tell, I really enjoy taking classes on Skillshare. I think that Skillshare is worth it and I recommend it to all my friends and family members. I love the idea of learning from the comfort of my home. I love all the projects that I worked on. And most of all, I love applying new skills in life and getting real results.

Grammarly Review (2021): Is Grammarly Worth It?

One such innovation that has completely transformed the process of writing is the invention of grammar checking tools. If you are a writer by profession, there is no way you haven’t used or at least heard of grammar checking tools like Grammarly.

Grammarly, in particular, seems to be the most popular name that slips through our tongue whenever grammar checking tools are mentioned. However, is the hype real?

In this article, we will dive deep to study the hype surrounding Grammarly. We will look into its features, what it can do for writers, the issues writers can face while using the tool, whether you can afford it, and how it is compared to other grammar checking tools in the market.

#1) Grammar and Punctuation: It detects basic mistakes and errors in your content like grammatical mistakes, punctuation errors, alliteration, fragmented sentences, comma splices, etc. Not just that, it also explains to the readers why an error is an error in the first place. So it also becomes a mentor that imparts important grammar lessons.

#2) Spell Check: It quickly detects spelling errors, if any. We can attest to its accuracy. It detects errors and allows you to correct spelling with just a click.

#3) Plagiarism: It scans your document for any potential copied content, whether it is intentional or not. It allows you to be on the safer side by providing you important insight into whether any part of your work was plagiarized or not. It then suggests changes.

#4) Writing Style: It acts as your human mentor, by suggesting tips, advice, and suggestions on improving the style of your writing. It provides insights such as readability, sentence length, clarity, etc. to polish your work to near perfection.

With Grammarly Premium, you get to perform an extensive list of checks pertaining to grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and context.

MasterClass Review (2021): Is MasterClass Worth It?

In preparing for this MasterClass review, I took different courses in writing and other subjects. I found that each course was different in its organization and feel. Some were very tactical in their approach, giving step-by-step actions (Wolfgang Puck’s comes to mind), while others were more theoretical and strategic in nature (Malcolm Gladwell).

At times, this varying style and level of detail was enjoyable. It was as if you entered into each class, not knowing exactly what to expect – but expecting that it would be mind-blowing to some degree. I also respect that through their different styles, it was reflective of the artist and how they wanted to approach their art and deliver their message. deadMau5 didn’t give you steps to creating music but more of the processes, thoughts, and struggle that he faces in delivering his music. Although I found some amazing information in the comments on required software and technical aspects, deadMau5 wasn’t there to talk technical. He was there to teach about his style of art.

But, there were times when I wished some creators would go deeper to show some “how-to” aspects to their art. At one point, R. L. Stine talked about how he researches and plans for a new book. I would have LOVED to see him actually put one of my old faves together. But no. Instead, we breezed over his process.

So, in the end of this MasterClass review, I can say that each class was absolutely worth watching and this makes the all-access pass worth it. It was incredible to have such a candid approach from true masters of their art. But MOST of these courses will not give you the tools to jump right up and implement the lessons if you’re a true beginner. Instead, most are more of a high-level discussion on the art.
