NUS Chemistry Module Review: CM3201 Principles Of Chemical Processes

This module is an introduction to the Chemical Industry and related process industries like the Pharmaceutical Industries or Petroleum Refining. After successfully attending this module, you will have an understanding of the nature of the chemical industry and the function of chemists, chemical engineers, and plant operators within that industry. An important point will be safety in chemical plants, hazard analysis and risk management through a discussion of industrial accidents. Many examples will be taken from the web site of the Chemical Safety Board (USA) www.csb.org

For an understanding of chemical process safety, a knowedge of chemical kinetics and basic unit operations as well as fundamentals of mass and energy transfer is indispensable.
