This module teaches linear algebra and its applications in engineering problems. The topics are matrices (rank, inverse, determinants, transpose), eigenvalues and eigenvectors, vector spaces, linear transformations, and a few differential equations.
The lectures were webcasted. The lectures were not that boring because Prof Victor was very enthusiastic when explaining the lectures. Materials for each week were not that much, and the tutorial questions were doable. The tutorials were compulsory because, by the end of each tutorial, there will be an assessment. The assessments were easy, and you can do it together with your tutorial mates.
The final consisted of 4 questions with two sub-questions for each question. They were very similar to past papers. However, in my opinion, there will be one sub-question slightly different from past papers. This question can be tricky and need a deep understanding of this module. The duration for this finals was one and a half hours. It was more than enough to finish all the questions.
Overall, the module is quite easy. However, you need to understand the concepts because the topics were abstract, and visual aids are sometimes required to learn more about the subject. You could watch a youtube channel called ‘3Blue1Brown’ if you want to learn more about the topic of linear algebra. Beware of the steep bell-curve.
