SMU Module Review: ECON205 Intermediate Mathematics for Economics

I was pre-assigned ECON205 Intermediate Mathematics for Economics in AY1920 Term 1 (Your mileage may vary). It’s a module that is heavily focused on the mathematical concepts used in Economics. The crux of the module revolves around optimisation – Minimisation and Maximisation. Most of the other concepts you learn are either to lead up to it or to extend its application. Given this, having a strong background in Calculus (More on the differentiation end) will most definitely help. I highly advise being comfortable with performing differentiation and solving mathematical equations to best prepare for the course.
